The Story Behind Mindset Movement

by | Dec 22, 2015 | happiness & meaning

Mindset Movement was created out of a personal need. A family need. A societal need. A community placing the health of our mind as a priority. For all of us.

A beautiful place of exploration.

Life, death, depression, vitality, adversity.

Joy, love, happiness, meaning, emotions, success.

Thoughts, experiences, perspective.

Mindset.

We are all gifted with an incredible mind that allows us to do remarkable things.
To think, to love, to care for others. To strive, grow, live.

A few years ago, I had taken this gift of a life, a mind, for granted. I numbed, destructed, manipulated my entire self to work against me. My mind was molded into an unwelcoming space for me to exist. Barricaded by my own false limitations and demonizing thoughts, I wasn’t even aware I had dug myself so deep. I was blinded by my own victimization. I realized I needed to make a change, and I ventured into the online terrain.

Immersed myself in psychology, neuroscience, personal improvement, literature, poetry, philosophy, spirituality.

I fell in love with my own curiosity and the act of exploring different, new voices and finding the relationship between opposing topics. This world is incredibly intertwined, and we are perplexingly interconnected.

Mindset Movement was built as a place, a community, where you can explore interdisciplinary work created with a common goal of better mental health. A welcoming environment where anyone could offer advice, knowledge, stories, new perspectives. For the silent voices to be heard.

Awareness sparked Mindset Movement.

I began to understand how our mental states were summed up, multiplied, divided by, a complex formula. Subjectively, difficult to label and hard to clearly understand the makeup of our minds. Mindset Movement is a place to spark your curiosity, about yourself and the world around you. An environment with joy and acceptance throughout this journey of discovery, a beautiful ongoing transformation. For the rest of our lives.

Our mental state is a result of our physical health (nutrition and exercise), environment (friends, home life, situation), neurochemicals (thoughts, activities, nutrition, genetics), thoughts (feelings, habits, behaviors), our mindset. All of which are fiercely intertwined. The detailed pieces of each affecting one another, how we interact with ourselves and this world. Maintaining a healthy mind is an ongoing process, we will never be finished work. Constantly reflecting on ourselves, shifting our mindset, and staying open minded with intense curiosity.

Our mindset is the structure of our mental state.

Mindset is simply the frame of our mind. Our thoughts, beliefs, attitudes, behaviors. Our underlying habits. How we choose to think about ourselves and this world. Our mindset is a place where we decide if we are worthy of love, worthy of achievement. It determines what we choose to do day-to-day, and how we handle unanticipated events. How we are resilient in the face of adversity. Our mindset reflects our gratefulness and attitudes towards life.

Everything we do, everything we say, stems from our mindset. It is the central place of our being, the lens of our life. We can either spend our time dirtying this lens, scratching vitality out of view, or take the time and effort into beautifying this lens. Creating a lens that we love to look through. Exploring other lenses can be tremendously liberating. Empowering to see that we can adopt new views about ourselves and this world continuously.

Different mindsets can break us down, or build us up. We have the ability to decide that this is a choice. First-hand, we will learn the resistance in doing so as a conditioned creature of habit. We have to make a conscious effort to be in control of what we will do, say, and be. To be mindful with intent.

Mindset Movement was created for the silent suffering.

A place to read or write adversity. See it on a page, broken down, dismantled. Embracing the darker matters of the human experience, and exposing, digging for the light and meaning in them. Understanding the different mindsets to adversity, feeling ashamed, destroyed or empowered.

Mindset Movement was created for us. It was created for those in contentment, but lacking growth. It was created for those that are in love with the human experience, for those who are lost in it. Mindset Movement was created for us at any stage in life, to look through a new lens, explore another person’s mind.

Mindset Movement teaches you to live with intent to be your authentic self.

We can find ourselves molding into what a situation or a person needs from us. We stray from a centered open-minded place, to satisfy our cravings for social acceptance. We say things we don’t mean, do things that don’t resemble who we want to be. We need to become the best versions of ourselves with an appreciative attitude towards who we are today. Learn and explore ourselves, and what we want out of this life.

Mindset Movement shows you courage through every step of this journey.

We need courage to remain curious, to throw our thoughts and ideas into this world. To remain hopeful and resilient during adversity. And to be our authentic selves. We may stumble into darker times, losing our grasp on vitality. Meaning in our life may be slipping away, and we see no purpose. Mindset Movement gives you a place to see that glimmer of hope. Within yourself and through others.

The gift of purpose is exploring what that means for you. You can find your purpose in the simple moments and interactions of life. You have to open your eyes, mind, and heart, to see it for what it is. We don’t have to constantly be searching for this grand purpose, but begin manifesting purpose and meaning into our lives today. In small or big ways.

Mindset Movement was created for you. For me. For us.

A place to dismantle and reconstruct our mindset. Exploring life, adversity, happiness, emotions, heartache in a beautiful and engaging way. You often have to let your soul guide you. I made the choice to follow my soul and intuition, granted the permission to take me to the unknown. I’ve been dragged, pulled, guided to here. To Mindset Movement.

The picture I had used above is my own, representing two items that had also led me to here. That keeps me grounded. I was given the Find Your Happy journal from a close friend, where I write things I am grateful for. To read and to write my thoughts and experiences. I had made my painting, Take Time To Do What Makes Your Soul Happy, when I was beginning to understand what that meant for me. I found meaning in the stroke of my paintbrush, inside my words of gratefulness crafted into my book. I find it in random day-to-day events, but I had never looked for it before.

Mindset Movement represents these items in an online community. A place that we can read and write our thoughts and experiences. It teaches us to begin to open our eyes to the possibilities that await us. The love and happiness that exists. Gives us the tools to view new and positive mindsets.

A creative outlet of the human experience.

Mindset Movement, my journal, my painting. Serve as constant reminders of love for this life, and the desire to live authentically, mindfully, courageously, and purposefully.
